State Police Conduct Sobriety Checkpoints for St. Patrick's Day

Tonight and Friday night, motorists in dozens of Indiana counties will be subject to sobriety checkpoints and increased police patrol. Indiana State Police are targeting the St. Patrick’s Day holiday as part of “Operation Pullover”, a partnership with over 250 law enforcement agencies statewide that runs March 4 – March 27.
The troopers aim to arrest impaired drivers and ticket unrestrained motorists. If you enter a checkpoint, expect for police to request your driver’s license and vehicle registration. As long as everyone is wearing seatbelts and the officer does not suspect the driver has been drinking, the delay should last 2 – 3 minutes, according to police.
Sobriety checkpoints will take place in the following counties:

  • Thursday, March 17: Porter County, Clark County, Marion County
  • Friday, March 18: Miami County, Henry County, St. Joseph County
After the checkpoint, police will be conducting “roving saturation patrols”, aggressively looking for impaired drivers in the following counties:
  • Thursday, March 17: Lake County, LaPorte County, Starke County, Pulaski County, Jasper County, Newton County, Marion County, Johnson County, Shelby County, Hendricks County, Hamilton County, Hancock County, Boone County
  • Friday, March 18: Cass County, Fulton County, Grant County, Miami County, Howard County, Tipton County, Wabash County, Delaware County, Madison County, Randolph County, Henry County, Wayne County, Fayette County, Union County, Rush County
